Heya folks, Ned here again. The inimitable Claus Jorgenson just posted about the Microsoft and Intel showcase Storage Spaces Direct with NVM Express at IDF ’15. He demonstrates a 16-node hyper-converged system running Windows Server 2016 TP3, with 4.2M read IOPS - all while using only 4 data drives per node. Pretty amazing bang for the buck. It goes on to show Storage QoS as well as mixed read-write performance, and has great info from Dan Lovinger, one of our oldest wisest developers here in the High Availability and Storage group.
Get on over there to read more about the configuration (Chelsio RNICs! Intel E5-2699 v3 CPUs! ReFS file system! A crazy lighted rack door!) and be sure to catch the videos, they are a treat. Here's a taste:
There are three more videos and plenty more info, head over there now.
